The Ordinary Process prepared
in San Sebastian was inaugurated on 30th. October
1961 and closed on 30thh. April 1964. At the request
of the Bishop of San Sebastian, Remittal Processes
also took place in Cordoba, Mendoza (Argentina),
Badajoz, Limoges (France), Toledo and Madrid. 48
witnesses were interrogated, among them her relatives
and the religious of the Company
of Mary.
The examination of the documents and testimonies carried out by the Congregation for the Causes of the Saints resulted in a positive response, and the Holy See ordered an Apostolic Process to be prepared. On January 7th. 1982, the Prefect of the Congregation for the Causes of the Saints ratified and confirmed that the Cause be introduced on behalf of Mother Cointa, a professed nun of the Order of the Company of Mary Our Lady. The Decree on the validity of the Processes is dated 21st. December 1984.
All who knew Mother Cointa speak of her sanctity. Some appreciated one virtue more than another; others thought she possessed all the virtues. However, the opinion of nearly all who knew her and had contact with her at different stages in her life indicate that "she was extraordinary in the ordinary" - a phrase which characterises Mother Cointa Jauregui y Oses.
